April 4th

Comet picked up in the evening sky at about mag 10.


 

July 3rd

Now past perihelion and rapidly brightened having broken up into three fragments.
Comet at mag 4.5, (comet nucleus remains unresolved). Image below 40s exposure
 


 

Image below 3x40 sec  exposures. Comet shows a uniform circular condensation
with little evidence of a gas tail yet.

July 15th

July 16th

40 sec exposure 135 mm lens + SX CCD f/2.8 showing a faint 1 degree tail


 

July 23rd

The narrow ion tail no longer visible. This is a 9x40 sec exposure with 50 cm
f/4 and SX CCD.
 
 
 


August 20th

The comet has now faded quite dramatically. This is a 6 x 40 sec exposure with 50cm f/4.
